When your canine companion stays at SunDog Boarding Kennel, we will provide everything needed to keep him/her safe, happy and comfortable. You are always welcome to send along any special items you would like your dog to have during his/her stay. It is a good idea to bring the food that they are accustomed to, and we encourage bringing something that smells like home (bed, blanket, t-shirt, favorite toy etc.). Whatever you decide, we will make certain that every dog gets a comfortable bed, toys, healthy food and treats, and, of course, lots of personal attention.
All of the dogs have access to the outdoors during the day for playtime as well as for potty breaks . We group dogs based on their size, age and activity level, and within that group they can choose how they prefer to spend their day.
A typical day begins at 7:00 a.m. when everyone goes outside for morning potty breaks. Each group of dogs then has an hour or so for playtime and special attention from staff. Breakfast is next, followed by playtime and walks. Often times the dogs all find a comfy spot midday for a brief nap. The rest of the afternoon is spent inside and outside, playing and spending time together. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m., and after that each dog retires to their individual sleeping areas with their personal items and any special chew treats you‘d like them to have (Kongs with peanut butter, Kongs with Yogurt, Coconut Oil, Organic & Natural Dog Treats, & Elk/Deer Antlers). All of the dogs are let outside for a potty break before good night cookies and bedtime (usually around 10:00 p.m.).
Unlike typical boarding kennels, the only time your dog will be confined is for meals and sleep. The dogs are separated at night and have their own personal sleeping area, but can share that area with another dog from the same household if requested. The daytime is theirs to enjoy as they choose, playing with other dogs, lying in the sun or the shade, gnawing on a chew toy, lounging on the couch, chasing a ball or going for a walk.
For safety, dogs are always supervised when they are with other dogs and are always leashed when on walks.
We have found that dogs that play, socialize and get plenty of exercise during the day are more likely to sleep quietly and comfortably at night, eliminating much of the stress associated with boarding.
Our mission is to provide a safe, fun, relaxed environment for your dog and to give him/her the time and attention required to fulfill all of his/her individual needs.
